Edgar Salas—a mechanical engineer, economic engineering specialist, and an IoT maven—in his 20-year long and illustrious professional career while working with various multinational companies in different countries—witnessed employees getting overwhelmed by new technologies. With this vision and decades of experience, Salas and Julian Montes (electronic engineer) founded AZLOGICA together to turn the dream of creating state-of-the-art IoT solutions into reality. Today, 12 years since its inception, AZLOGICA has earned the moniker of a “market leader” by staying true to its original goal and developing world-class, smart, and secure IoT solutions. When asked about its success mantra, Salas notes, “We stretch the boundaries of our IoT solutions by working according to customer needs, and that helps us creating a dramatic shift in the technology adoption process.”
AZLOGICA has a comprehensive understanding of an IoT network, and after thoroughly gauging the client’s requirements, it applies this knowledge to develop customized solutions for its clients. As the co-founder highlights, his company takes an approach much similar to building a Lego structure, building one block at a time, above solid basements and a holistic collection of developed pieces. AZLOGICA assembles and integrates the specific hardware with data presentation and solicitation solution to enable its clientele to make decisions under any circumstances. To elaborate, when a potential client approaches AZLOGICA, the company begins the process by diagnosing their entire ecosystem and the problems they intend to solve. AZLOGICA determines what kind of data it has to gather and how to transmit it based on the client’s network architecture. If the client wants to enhance their existing configuration, AZLOGICA can help the client procure necessary solutions, such as satellite, narrowband IoT, or low-power wide-area network like LoRa, to gather and transmit those data. “Once this diagnosis is complete, we develop a customized IoT solution by assembling all the necessary pieces and stacking up the acquired data,” remarks Salas.

In one instance, AZLOGICA connected the most exposed of 400,000 streetlights in Bogota, Columbia, to help solve the city’s lamp theft problem. Every year, approximately 10 percent of lamps were stolen from the city’s street lights. Upon deploying their IoT solution, not only did AZLOGICA solve the lamp theft issue, but it also set up an end-to-end solution to resolve other challenges such as inspection, maintenance, and energy consumption.

Salas shares another story where the company collaborated with Allianz, one of the most important insurance and asset management companies around the globe. Allianz’s broad customer base made asset management an arduous task. AZLOGICA came into the picture with its tailor-made IoT solutions, including vehicle management devices with GPS, biometric accessories, voice recognition, smartphones, business Intelligence and analytics. With these tools, the end-users could gather information on their vehicles and make decisions to improve or reduce risk exposition according to their requirements. The collaboration yielded great results for Allianz in the form of increased loyalty of the insured clients, renewal of insurance policies with higher guarantees and accessory services, and risk reduction in critical clients.
However, these use cases just barely scratch the surface of what AZLOGICA truly has to offer. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the company is empowering its clients with proper tools for managing assets remotely and helping in relevant data-based decision making.
